Training Weekend

On the weekend of the 9th-11th December I attended the International Citizen Service training run by Restless Development.

It was really nice to meet some of the fellow volunteers who were taking part in the programme. There were people who were going to Uganda, India and South Africa. The training itself was intense but worthwhile. Reflecting on it now I feel more prepared and excited than before for this placement. Any qualms that I had leading up to this training were resolved and I received more information about the specific placement in Uganda.

So when we arrive we will spend roughly 2 weeks taking part in in-country training which will be tailored specifically to the communities that we will be entering. Once this is done then we are split into groups and sent to our placement community for the rest of the programme. The communities will all be within 2 hours of Jinja (Second biggest city in Uganda). This is where we can start working with the national volunteers to make an impact in these communities.

It's now less than 3 weeks to go! So it's all about getting prepared.
